Monetize Your Brilliance

pats write mind, baby god

Do you have a habit of taking yourself for granted? Of not knowing how brilliant you actually are? Of not blowing your own horn? Yeah, I feel ya.  When I was growing up, people thought that kids would get an over-inflated sense of self if you told them they were pretty or they were smart. So there weren’t too many pats on the back in those days.

What you did gt was that dangling carrot:  work hard; be self-sacrificing; think of others first. And the result was kids with afflicted self-esteem; kids who didn’t know they were smart (even though they were.)

All childhoods are the accumulating-of-experiences days in our lives, so whether you were told how good or how talented you were or whether you were not, here you are today. Hopefully, you have figured out the truth about yourself, so it’s time to do a little bit of stretching.

Let’s say you’re a writer, and let’s say you’ve written a book, and let’s think you might like to earn some extra money by selling that book on Amazon.

You create an Author Page in Amazon. It’s your first attempt to go public and you’re excited. You share that link: https://www.amazon.com/author/patmatson

You stumble around Kindle in an effort to find your way, and you’re incredibly grateful for your partner who is a Publishing Expert.

I’m inviting you to go have a look-see at Welcome to the World, Baby God: the earth experiment.  This book answers a lot of questions about life, possibly those questions you’ve been asking yourself for years and not had a decent answer yet.

It’s Time to Harvest What You’ve Planted

baby god, metaphysics, harvest

Was there a time in your life where you flew by the seat of your pants and had no clue what was coming up next? That’s how my first thirty years went. I am the eldest of five children, and there wasn’t anyone to follow. I had to invent it all on the fly. I’m actually pretty good at impromptu situations because of it, and that alone has dissolved some fears about knowing enough and being good enough.

As I matured – I swear to God that I HAVE matured – I discovered wonderful things like Goal Setting, and about Big Dreams and how to make them come true.

I’ve always been someone with high ideals. From grade school days, baby god, pats write mind, metaphysicsthose ideals were there and they led me right into the convent. Would you like to meet Sr. Barnabas, SSJ? I couldn’t see anything better for a life than serving God.

Another idea began to tug at my habit when I was in the convent. It said “There has to be something more.” It was relentless, but I toyed with leaving the convent for several years before I finally moved on that idea. Then marriage and motherhood happened and then divorce happened in my middle thirties.

I was alone with two little boys to raise. Beside those wonderful little guys, my ex left me with another gift – an introduction to metaphysics. Both my sons and that study are the major contributors to the life I have today.

In the last thirty years, I’ve been at the helm of my life, directing, refining, doing-over, and moving myself steadily into more and more good. I’m a happy satisfied woman.

I want to share with you one of the things I am about to harvest: It’s a wee e-book entitled Welcome to the World, Baby God.  In this delightful little book, I propose a more spiritual take for our experiences here on earth, and I provide ideas for you so filled with common sense that anyone can get it, even a little baby. It will leave you wondering “Could it possibly be this simple?”

It’ll be published soon. Please stay tuned and I’ll keep you apprised. In the meanwhile, you might want to follow me on Facebook in my new group: Baby God Book. We’re going to have lots of stimulating conversations there.

Manifesting What I Want

manifest, manifesting, manifestation, patswritemind,

I was raised in a religion where we were all taught that when you wanted something, you asked God for it. Many still follow this line of thinking. Sometimes, you get what you want; sometimes you don’t. Following along, you learn to make up reasons for why God does or does not answer your prayers. Many spend time on their knees begging God to change his omnipotent mind.

This always seemed futile to me. I couldn’t understand why a God purported to be good would even allow any form of evil. Even the Queen of Hearts had the good sense to yell “Off with their heads” when things weren’t working.

I entered the convent to perform at what I saw was the highest level of service to this God. I ran into personalities and characters, some of whom had lowered levels of godliness than my highest sense. What a surprise! Being “on the other side of the desk” was one heck of an eye-opener, and when I left the convent, I was looking for more answers, keener insights, greater understanding.

It took me several years to find it. What I discovered is that God is not a powerful individual on a throne in heaven. Nope. God is a power. It is the mental power inside each one of us. It is a Cause Engine that we control by our thinking.

  • I learned that when my thoughts are accurate and in line with rightness and goodness, then my experiences are right, good, and harmonious.
  • I learned that when my thoughts include what can only be labeled evil, then my experiences go in the crapper.

Notice, no question here of exactly who is doing the creating? I’m not entirely sure who started this blame God or beg from God idea, but perpetuating this through religion or philosophy isn’t doing anyone a lick of good.

Because you have a mind that thinks, you ARE the God you are begging and beseeching and if you are looking anywhere outside your good, sweet, wonderful Self, it’s a dead end street.

What does work is to learn everything you can about Goodness Itself, recognize that it IS you, and align your thoughts with it to create the health, wealth, success and happiness that is intended.

I wish you enormous success.

I Love Convenience and Simplicity

Convenience, simplicity, true to yourself, pats write mindI have a rule in my home: all the furniture must be very comfortable. One of the Patty-made rules in my kitchen is that everything must be conveniently within reach. I like my home decorations to be tastefully simplistic, too. These three make my home comfortable, warm and homey.

My sister spent Labor Day with me this month. She thanked me for my hospitality on the day she left and I have given that and another chat we had some thought. We talked about the 5 Love Languages, and I guess the way I like to show love is to provide a comfortable, convenient and simple environment for visitors to enjoy themselves. That falls under Quality Time and Acts of Service in my book, and in Gary Chapman’s book “The 5 Love Languages” too.

I like the concept of Feng Shui well enough, but I’ve always been struck by allowing anyone else establish rules for me by which I live my life. This particularly touches me when it comes to arranging my home the way that makes me feel satisfied. I have chosen to live my life by what I like, what I appreciate, what makes me comfortable, etc. than by what are truly arbitrary rules for home arrangement and décor.

Because I don’t believe that location, invisible forces, alignment on earth axes or the like have any Causability at all, Feng Shui would be a reversal of the Law of Cause and Effect for me.

Shakespeare was a truly wise man, and he said: “This above all: to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man.” I run my life by this sort of thinking. My decisions for me are the best for me. My choices of friends are the best for me. My style of décor is the best for me. The way in which I learn life’s lesson is the best for me. To mine own self be true.

“To be true to yourself takes courage. It requires you to be introspective, sincere, open-minded and fair. It does not mean that you are inconsiderate or disrespectful of others. It means that you will not let others define you or make decisions for you that you should make for yourself.” From www.essentiallifeskills.com

What is the Depth of Your Feeling?

If you are involved in any aspect of Spirituality, Metaphysics, or the Law of Attraction, you’ve more than likely heard that when your deep feeling, pats write mindconviction arrives at the depth of feeling, your thoughts will manifest in an objective state.

So what does that mean and how do you get there? Getting there depends on two things:

  • Do you really mean it? and
  • Can you feel the truth inside your own being?

To arrive at the truth of either of those ideas, you need time, willingness, and a desire to understand.

I know that my life is a mental life that is based on how and what I think about things. I know that what manifests – my body, my experiences, my so-called things, other people – are all there because of how and what I think. It’s such an improved idea as opposed to dealing with things from the so-called physical perspective. It’s easier.

Recently, I challenged myself regarding a particular desire I’ve had forever. I’m still working on it so I will keep its details to myself at this point. But what I did was clear the decks of any other busy work I had going in my life so I could focus pointedly at this one task.

I know that a thought cannot be held for very long and must be repeated, so I’ve made myself what I call a prayer bracelet from lovely red glass beads. I run them through my fingers as I repeat my desired thought to both keep me from drifting into sleep and to stay focused on what I mean to manifest.

I work to get in three hours of mental work each day for such a project. As I do the work – the repetition – I try to feel the sense of love I have for what I am about, and I imbue that sense of love into my words.

The more strongly I mean what my desire is, the more profound my commitment becomes. At the end of several days, I experienced a very deep sense of reality and truth about my desire that both astonished me and simultaneously made me feel euphoric. I call that experience the depth of feeling. If you’d like to enjoy it, you’ve got to do the work. If you don’t know how but you’d like to learn, I’d be willing to teach you. I am a teacher of the Walter Method of Eschatology and I know how.

Being Polite While Holding Your Own During this Tough Political Storm

Pats Write Mind; politics; calm

If you find yourself easily triggered over the events happening at such a rapid pace daily about our upcoming election in November, you are not alone. I think the pulse of our nation rises daily when individuals spend time on Facebook.

I’ve had my share of sharing things I felt were politically important to have a lot of sand thrown in my face. I’ve been graphically kicked in the teeth a few times. God knows how many times I’ve been Unfollowed or Unfriended. I’ve Unfollowed a few folks myself whose comments felt like knife stabs.

Where does that leave me? I can see that not one thing I share on Facebook means anything to those who don’t think about things as I do. Last month, I decided to only share things with those whom I know agree with me. And then I go to thinking that except for the occasional chuckle, even that is a gigantic waste of my time.

I was raised to respect my elders. Now that I AM an elder, I can assure you that this dictum is no longer in vogue. So between now and November, I am not going to share my wisdom with anyone, unless they either beg me or pay me for it. This free sharing isn’t working.

If you feel frightened about the result of the election, I’d like to share one of Life’s underlying Truths to give you some comfort:

Each of us is held to a Divine Standard of Laws where each of us suffers the consequences of our actions. Even if the Supreme Court says “Not Guilty,” and the individual IS guilty, that individual will be answerable to a Higher Court than the Supreme Court of this land and they will have to pay for their sins and their omissions, just as you and I do.

My prayer is that the perfect individual wins the election for the sake of the good of our country, which, by the way, I love with a passion.PatsWriteMind, politics, calm

There’s Ongoing Joy Behind the Political Emotions

political battleground, pats write mind, joySo after I got my little anti-political rage out of my system earlier this month, I thought about all the rest of my life experience that’s going on in the middle of our political shit storm, and you know what I found? Tons and tons of good.  I expect you and I aren’t so very different. I’ll bet if you set politics aside for just a 15-minute breather, imagine what you might find, too?

  • I have two fabulously loving cats, one of whom is sleeping in my inbox as I write. I feel all warm and loving when I look at Pico. I’m pretty sure Chi is upstairs lying in the sun somewhere and with just one stroke,  I can get her to love me back, too. You got pets who love you?
  • I have a garden growing in the summer sun. There are lots of yellow tomato blossoms about to grow me some of my favorite summertime treats: home grown tomatoes. I love to feed the plants and water them and know that I’m contributing to their growth with my thinking and the water.
  • I have students of mind who work and study with me in a very special vineyard and who work to refine their understanding. They are crafting the skills necessary to fashion health, wealth, success and harmony as they want them to appear in their lives.
  • I have enough left-over soda from the 4th of July picnic I hosted to take care of several more parties this summer. What a great excuse!
  • One of my siblings is driving up the mountain to my house as I type. I love spending time with her and the joy of anticipation is coursing through my mind. Every car that drives by fills me with an “Is it her yet?” expectation.
  • I’ve gotten caught up on the laundry by about 80%. I’d neglected it due to party-planning for the 4th and I’ve only got one load done. Best part is that what I dried, I even put away! Doesn’t it just bug you to have clean close laying around and you are totally unmotivated to put it away?
  • I have four potential pieces of work with clients pending and coming in closer every day. I got an automatic appointment from the calendar on my website today and it THRILLED me.

see the good, pats write mind, politics

I’d like to encourage you to back step away from politics and see what you can find that is good going on in the background of your life. It doesn’t have to remain there unacknowledged. I can tell you that taking this brief break to look at the good in my life feels a heck of a lot better than fussing over who lied or who’s not capable. Phew!

Need Some Relief from Politics Rubbing You Raw?

politics, pats write mind

It’s most sad to me how our current Administration has deliberately said one thing while doing the exact opposite. Even more sad to me are the folks who believe only what is said and who can’t see – or won’t look at – the contradiction in their actions.

I believe that folks aren’t looking deeply enough into history, their own souls, their belief philosophies, and the future of mankind before they go off the beam at another because that other happens to think differently than they do.

It’s a very sad day in America where you can be Unfriended in Facebook by expressing an opinion that opposes another’s take on a particular subject. When I grew up, most schools had a Debate Class and Debate Club for the very purpose of taking a different stand! What has happened to this wonderful country of ours that we cannot even tolerate an opinion that is different? Where’s the Oneness? I miss it.

I love everybody equally because I look at individuals’ insides which makes whatever is on the outside meaningless. I would love to see us set aside the Dash-Americans and only use the term American. I would love to see us set aside all the colors prefacing individuals and just use the term Individual. I would love to see our choice of Political Party be okay regardless of which party we favor. I want to see our country whole again, united again, one nation under God again.

You Are Good, pats write mind, individual

I believe we can have a grassroots swell of pride and oneness if we begin right here, right now and acknowledge each individual as ourselves: worthy, good, okay as is. I know for sure that when I was raising my sons, if I thought of either one as less-than in any way, I would see that ugly thought reflected in his actions, so I watched what I thought very judiciously. Why wouldn’t that work to heal our country?

Let’s start seeing one another as industrious, honest, good, productive, fun, loving, kind, etc. – in other words, as we’d like for it to be – and then expect that kind of idea to take hold and flourish. We don’t need the politicians to be one kind or another to get this job done. We can do it ourselves, one thought at a time, one individual at a time until the whole nation is affected. Wouldn’t that be such a relief?

Come on! Help me with this!

Does Heart-Based Entrepreneurship Exclude Pocket-Based Models, Part II ?

heart-based entrepreneur

If you missed Part I of this post, let me tell you the key pieces. Some key elements of a heart-based business are:

  • Not just about making money, yet profitable
  • One’s passion and one’s talents are aligned
  • Showing social responsibility
  • Having a double bottom line to include profit & social responsibility
  • Introducing spirituality into the workplace
  • Extending their services from a higher place
  • Based on high ideas – transformation via leadership, for example
  • Collaborate with customers and change if needed
  • The work reflects heart-based values of the owners

What heart-based entrepreneurs need to be profitable:

  • Understand just what her brilliance is and why it is worth the money she charges.
  • General business knowledge
  • Creative, out-of-the-box thinking that many entrepreneurs have

NOW WHAT DO I DO?

  • Do your research and learn what others are doing and if you’re up to snuff with your approach to business.
  • WANT TO more than anything else.
  • Study marketing and get totally comfortable with self-promotion.
  • Have a plan. It doesn’t have to be complex.
  • ALWAYS be taking some step from the plan.
  • Use your blog to build your reputation.
  • You’re the CEO now. It’s your attitude that tumbles downhill.
  • Exercise good business practices.
  • Be uniquely you in your approach.
  • Persevere.

Wishing you all the best, because you are, you know?

I love to write about mental concepts. I’d love to do that kind of writing for you in your business.  Please email pat@patswritemind.com and let’s talk about it.  My favorite tasks are creating blog posts, ezine articles, ebooks, books, autoresponders and curriculum.

Does Heart-Based Entrepreneurship Exclude Pocket-Based Models, Part I ?

heart based entrepreneur

We hear so much about heart-based entrepreneurs, and, frankly, I am one so it makes me happy this model is becoming so much more popular. But because I also know some wonderful heart-based entrepreneurs aren’t making as much money as they’d like, I thought it might be interesting to find out why not by comparing their model to those  that are more Pocket-Based.

Some of the key elements of a heart-based business are:

  • Not just about making money, yet profitable
  • One’s passion and one’s talents are aligned
  • Showing social responsibility
  • Having a double bottom line to include profit & social responsibility
  • Introducing spirituality into the workplace
  • Extending their services from a higher place
  • Based on high ideas – transformation via leadership, for example
  • Collaborate with customers and change if needed
  • The work reflects heart-based values of the owners

And here are some of the key elements of a pocket-based business model, which, BTW, seem to be fading a bit.

  • Top down management: CEO at the top
  • Hierarchical departments
  • About investment and the return on investment
  • Research based on target market needs
  • Sales and distribution based marketing
  • High volume
  • Analysis of all numbers and statistics

I’m chuckling because even the words used to describe the pocket-based model feel cold and uncaring to me. How did they hit you?

For a heart-based entrepreneur to earn money to support herself, it is essential that she understands just what her brilliance is and why it is worth the money she charges. This is one of the pieces – and I really mean that it is essential – to earn money.

Another piece is general business knowledge and creative, out-of-the-box thinking that many entrepreneurs have. Three pieces. You’ve got to have them all working full time to be a successful heart-based entrepreneur.
